Stop Day Dreaming of Self Care

I know a lot of us to want to prioritize self-care, especially with the stress of work, taking care of our loved ones, and just life in general. We make all these self-care plans that unfortunately fall to the waist side -- but that's the more reason why it  should be top of mind ESPECIALLY when we find ourselves in challenging situations.

Self-care is different for everyone as it entails looking after yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. No two people have the same need!

Stop telling yourself:  "But, what time will I have to do self-care? There's no time for all that. It's fine in theory and as a life goal but regularly, who wants to carry out self-care routines?"

That’s the thing; self-care doesn’t have to be grand, anything you do for yourself that makes you feel better or cared for is self-care.

Self-care doesn’t have to cost the earth. There are ways to carry out self-care routines without seeing your bank account go red:

  • A relaxing herbal bath
  • A brisk walk
  • Journal to unscramble your thoughts
  • Listen to your favorite music
  • Watch your favorite film
  • good night’s sleep

I get, I do, but taking time out to engage in self-care can relieve the pressures of everyday life and give you a reset to get back to a healthy point.

Considering the cost and pains associated with mental health services, spending more time with yourself can and will benefit everyone. (That’s not to say that self-care is a substitute for professional help.)

Self-care is an important activity to do every day. Doing so will lead to a better balance of wellness and lead toward improved overall health and wellness.

Life is precious, and it's meant to be enjoyed.

Which one will you focus on today?
